This is going to be a long post. Please bear…bare…no, I think it is bear…bear with me. Is there any other way to spell bear…?
Since a lot of us are busy with work and, I assume, may have no time to search for new MMO’s or check out the ones chosen by others…I have decided to create these small introductions to the games. Only one I tried until now was Rift, for five minutes or something. So, I won’t give any opinions and will try to remain impartial. This is merely some information that one can also take from the site or games respective wikis; I’m just putting it all on the same page for an easier access.
Please feel free to contribute and help with these guides. I’ll try to keep them as updated as possible. If any of the information is wrong, feel free to say so and I’d greatly appreciate it if you also correct me on the spot.
I’ll leave here the…format I’m using for these guides, in case you want to make some of your own.
Formula:
System Requirements I'll be changing the way I put this a lot so won't leave a formula for this one.
(This is one of the most important things. Some of us don’t have top notch computers that can easily play games with more advanced systems and graphics. Please keep that in mind when picking a game. By the way, I am not a computer expert, far from it. If you have any questions like: “will I be able to run this?”, sorry I can’t answer…But I’m sure you can just ask in skype and someone will help you.)
Plot (Not that important in my opinion, but I’m adding it the same way. I assume some of us might like game politics and background plot.)
Races/Classes/Jobs (No need to explain.)
Crafting (Also no need to explain.)
Clan/Guild Features (I feel as if games are continuously trying to improve the guild system. It seems it has become a lot more than just a group of players that have a common ground between them like it used to be before.)
Cute Extras (Things I think may contribute to your decision. Some games have really nice features that, I think, should be mentioned.)
Current list of suggestions:
-Eden Eternal (guide done); -Rift (guide done, could use some help polishing it though); -Aura Kingdom (will be available soon enough);
Eden Eternal:
System Requirements:
Minimum Requirements
OS: Windows (R) 98/XP/2000/Vista/Win7 CPU: 2.4 GHz Intel Premium 4 or equivalent Memory: 1GB (Vista OS req. 1GB or above) HD: 2GB Video: nVidia GeForce FX 5200 or ATI Radeon 9600 Sound: DirectX 9.0c compatible sound card
Recommended Requirements
OS: Windows (R) 98/XP/2000/Vista/Win7 CPU: 2.8 GHz Intel Premium 4 or equivalent Memory: 1GB or above HD: 2GB or above Video: nVidia GeForce FX 6600 or ATI Radeon X600 Sound: DirectX 9.0c compatible sound card
Plot:
Ok…I’m going to try to make this as short and quick as possible.
There were different races from distant lands. They each decided to set sail and search for new ground. All of them found their home in this new land that just happened to be in the center of the world (did I read it right, wikia? Center of the world…?).
As always happens when there are people with different personalities in a room, after some time of prosperity and peace, a tension began to rise among the races.
If, by now, you’re already expecting a group of heroes to come save the day…you’re correct! A couple of mysterious heroes did show up and managed to continuously save the day.
*Sigh*…I hate MMO background plots…
Races/Classes/Jobs :
There seem to be five playable races in this game:
-Humans; (Considered the intelligent race…) -Zumi; (These cute mice-like people have a thing for creativity and commerce.) -Anuran; (They used to be shy, but ended up becoming the comic relief part of the community. They look like those cute frogs from Zelda.) -Ursun; (An interesting fact for you guys: Bear in Portuguese is “urso”. Ursun seem to be the strong warriors of this game. They resemble bears.) -Halfkin. (These seem to be little humans with traits from all other races.)
After races, comes picking a class. Though you can only start off as a Warrior or Magician, you’ll unlock a new playable class ever 5-10lvls or so. The game contains 5 main branches to explore:
In Eden Eternal, there seem to be three sides to crafting. You have to gather materials and then you have Equipment Crafting and Racial Crafting.
You gather materials through Farming, Mining and Summoning.
Equipment Crafting allows you to make your own equipment, but you’ll only be able to wear one type of each equipment you create (I have no idea what that means…blame wiki). Also, the stronger the equipment the easier it’ll be for you to fail.
Racial Crafting is something bound to your race. When you reach lvl 30, you’ll be able to use this feature by clicking on the gray hammer tool. Different racial types of crafting are:
-Human -> Gemcrafting to boost weapons and armor -Zumi -> Engineering to create gadgets -Anuran -> Alchemy to create potions, dyes and essences -Ursun -> Engraving to create glyphs -Halfkin -> Embroidery to create trophy enchantments
Clan/Guild Features:
One can create his own guild when he reaches lvl 20, has 50 gold and doesn’t belong to any other guild yet. If all requirements are met, one must speak with Guild Manager Helding (Aven 478,468). A guild will lvl up as it gathers more funds and guild fame. Best way for you to help your guild lvl up is to do Guild Quests.
After the Guild Leader is lvl 30 or higher, the Guild is lvl 3 or higher, has at least 30 members and 500 gold (10,000 if more than 50 towns exist already), the Guild Leader may chose to create a Guild Town. However, if afterwards, the guild loses members (dropping down to below 30 members) or doesn’t keep up with at least 10 active members within three consecutive days the Guild Town will be erased.
Cute Extras:
Change Class at any time: This game offers you the chance to max all classes without needing to create a different alt for a new build. You can switch between classes at any time and lvl them up to your taste. Tired of being a magician? Well, just switch to Warrior. Something like that. Like I have mentioned previously, you’ll unlock new classes every 5-10 lvls.
Heroic Traits: When you create a character, you can also select a trait for that character. You can only pick one so choose wisely.
Pet System: These loyal and cute companions will pick up your loot, buff you or even fight alongside you. Of course, the best ones are only accessible with real money but it’s still cute.
Rift:
System Requirements:
Minimum Requirements:
Operating system: Windows® XP, Windows Vista®, or Windows® 7 Processor: Dual Core 2.0 GHz or better Memory: 2 GB Hard disk space: 15.0 GB available Video: Nvidia® GeForce® FX 5900, ATI Radeon® X300, or Intel® GMA X4500 Sound: DirectX® 8.1 compliant card DirectX®: 9.0c, June 2010 update Broadband Internet connection (DSL, cable modem, or other high-speed connection)
Recommended Requirements:
Operating system: Windows® XP, Windows Vista®, or Windows® 7 Processor: Intel® Core 2 Duo® 2.2 GHz or better Memory: 4 GB Hard disk space: 15.0 GB available Desktop Video: Nvidia® GTS 250 or better Notebook Video: Nvidia® GTX 200M series or better Sound: DirectX® 8.1 compliant card DirectX®: 9.0c, June 2010 update Broadband Internet connection (DSL, cable modem, or other high-speed connection)
(Now, according to the site itself, it is possible to run Rift even if you don't have the correct video card or something. It gives a list of all other ways you can run it but I really am not going to paste it all here and turn this even bigger. Here: https://support.trionworlds.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/14/kw/system%20requirements)
Plot:
(I apologize, there is no easy way to resume the amount of info I'm getting from the wiki and I didn't really pay much attention to the intro when I played the game. I will, however, say that it doesn't seem like your mainstream mmo plot. Sorry again. If anyone would like to do it for me, go ahead.)
Every player starts by choosing a combination of three Souls from one Calling. As the players lvl up, they'll receive Soul Points to spend on their Soul Trees, growing them as they want. The Soul Tree is where the players get the skills from.
Crafting:
In this game, the player can choose up to three professions from the nine the game has. Three of them are Gathering Professions and the remaining four are Crafting professions. After players get their max three, they must purchase the rest if they want more.
There doesn't seem to exist any special features for Guilds in this game. A player must visit an NPC (Guardians: Gilbert Hilberto / Defiants: Onezumi Harknellio), pay 1 platinum and have other four players sign it as well. Guilds have access to a bank system with various vaults, each vault with a number of spaces.
Cute Extras:
I couldn't find any other cute extras. All of this game's nice features seem to have gone towards their race/class and crafting system. As well as the complexity of the story and beauty of the scenery.

Subject: Dragon Nest *** IN PROGRESS Tue Feb 04, 2014 9:29 am
Adding another MMO that a friend recommended to me. It's called Dragon Nest.
Dragon Nest:
Welcome to Dragon Nest! You're about to enter a fantastic world filled with magic, wonder, noble quests, hideous monsters, evil villains and endless adventure. Your first choice when you begin playing Dragon Nest is one of the most significant. You will have to choose your character and class. In Dragon Nest, your character and your class are one and the same and which you choose will affect both the character of the story you experience as well as the skills and abilities you have to overcome challenges.
Once you reach level 15, you will have the opportunity to choose a "specialization." A specialization is a variation on the main class that focuses in a particular combat skill set.
Storyline:
The Goddess Althea, creator of the land of Alteria (Verathea in the NA version, Lagendia in the SEA version), is poisoned by her evil sister Vestinel. The poison can only be cured using an antidote made using the source of the poison itself, Vestinel's magic grail, which has disappeared somewhere within Alteria. The players as heroes of Alteria must comb the land fighting evil dragons in order to find power stones that enable them to communicate with the sleeping goddess in order to find the grail, wake her and save the world.
System Requirements:
Classes:
Note: Classes are gender locked. Of the six classes, only the Warrior and the Cleric are male.
Warrior:
As a Warrior you will battle foes in fast-paced close-ranged melee combat. Quick and agile, you will rely on melee combos to triumph over your foes.
Swordsman Swordsmen specialize in the use of greatswords and can create long chains of combos that do massive damage. As Swordsmen continue to rise in level, they can further specialize their abilities, choosing to focus on doing massive damage to a single opponent or less damage to many opponents at once. Mercenary Mercenaries do less damage and are much less mobile than Swordsmen. They make up for this however, by being the most heavily armored character in the game. Their primary focus is engaging enemies one-on-one and taking the kind of blows other characters can’t, allowing their friends the opportunity to damage and destroy larger enemies. Mercenaries may use axes or hammers.
Archer:
As an Archer, you excel at long-ranged combat, taking out foes using a bow and arrows and using your speed and agility to avoid being hit in return.
Attributes:
Very strong long-range attacks
Archers are very quick and can move while using their basic attacks
While not armored very well, they have many evasive skills to avoid being hit
Specialization:
Sharpshooter Sharpshooters specialize in the use of bows at the expense of their acrobatic skills and melee attacks. As such, they tend to be very vulnerable when up close with an opponent. At range though, there is no class in the game who can do as much damage as a well-played Sharpshooter. Acrobat While still excellent long-range attackers, Acrobats give up some of their most damaging bow skills in favor of acquiring a devastating arsenal of lightning-fast kicks and strikes. While still poorly armored, Acrobats are one of the most agile classes, boasting plenty of escape moves that allow them to get in close, do damage and get out before the foe even knows what hit them.
Cleric:
The Cleric is a tough, armored fighter with the ability to both heal and buff friends. He does less damage than most other classes, but his support abilities more than make up for it, making the Cleric a welcome friend in any party.
Attributes:
Strong defenses
The ability to heal and buff friends
Can distract multiple foes or pull away a large one, allowing party members to focus on clearing out dungeons
Weapons:
Primary: Mace, Flail, Wand Secondary: Shield
Specialization:
Paladin More than any other class, the Paladin specializes in keeping himself alive. A sort of “armored turtle,” the Paladin is really good at taking a beating to distract monsters in order to give his friends time to destroy them. Their greatest weakness is their low damage and small mana pool that forces them to be very careful when casting spells. Priest Unlike Paladins, Priests have larger mana pools and more attack spells at their disposal. That means they can serve as a secondary damage dealer in a party. Their most effective role though, is as a healer. A good Priest in a party keeping everybody alive is often the difference between life and death in a dungeon.
Sorcerer:
The Sorceress specializes in medium-range attacks. While they can’t do as much damage as the Archer, their greatest strength is their ability to inflict various status ailments on enemies. They can freeze them, set them on fire, poison them, or do all sorts of other damage that can kill a lot of monsters over time. They can also equip a variety of off-hand items that allow them to cause different secondary effects.
Attributes:
Medium ranged magical attacks
Can freeze, poison and burn foes, making the Sorceress great at controlling crowds of monsters
Protect your friends by knocking creatures out of the way
Weapons:
Primary: Staff Secondary: Grimoire, Orb, Puppet
Specialization:
Elementalist Elementalists are the queens of elemental magic and can create walls of ice, poison pits, flame trails and more as they take ultimate control of the battlefield. Although Elementalists have the disadvantage of lower health, they more than compensate with their ultimate damage. When in doubt, let an Elementalist “divide and conquer” the battlefield for you! Mystic Mystics go far beyond merely using the elements to inflict status ailments. They harness the very force of creation itself such as gravity and black holes to control the crowd, ripping creatures apart, crushing them mercilessly, or just whipping them around to give their friends the chance to slice and dice them. Mystics are well balanced in their damage dealing and survival in a battle.
Tinkerer:
The Tinkerer uses the power of science to control her enemies, summon robots, and provide healing support for her friends. Her well-rounded skillset makes her an excellent addition to any party.
Attributes:
Tinkerers use a variety of attacks that hit a wide area from mid- to long-range
Tinkerers are flexible heroes with skills to deal damage, heal, and defend their allies
Their low Strength and Vitality are offset by strong Agility and Intellect
Engineer Engineers command a vast arsenal of rockets, turrets, and robots to deal damage and control the battlefield. In addition to direct-damage skills, the Engineer can also bolster Alfredo, transforming the robo-butler into the ultimate bodyguard. Alchemist Masters of all things chemical, Alchemists use various tinctures and tonics to heal allies, poison enemies, and dish out elemental damage. With the power to tip the scales of battle in their party’s favor, Alchemists make excellent all-around supporters.
Kali:
The Kali combines fast and fluid melee combat with dark magic that cripples her enemies and bolsters her allies. Her relentless strikes and debilitating de-buffs weaken foes and leave them open to attack.
Attributes:
The Kali uses a variety of short and long range attacks depending on her specialization
The ability to buff allies
Spiritual attacks that deal dark magic damage
Weapons:
Primary: Fans, Chakrams Secondary: Focus
Specialization:
Screamer Screamers embrace the power of fallen spirits to protect allies and weaken enemies with status effects and continuous damage. Screamers can even become invincible for a short time. Dancer Dancers unleash a flurry of chakram attacks and magical abilities in a deadly dance that overwhelms enemies. Dancers are lithe and agile, and they dart from enemy to enemy in the blink of an eye.
Gameplay:
Features all classes and specializations:
Crafting System:
Crafting is performed by talking to any Blacksmith and accessing his crafting menu. In order to craft an item players must have all the materials listed in its recipe.
Crafting operations can be roughly divided into four categories:
Adding a suffix to a weapon or an armor piece of Rare or Epic rarity, which improves its stats significantly and adds a special effect that happens with a certain probability. Enhanced equipment with revealed Hidden Abilities can be used without resetting; the Enhancements and Hidden Abilities will be retained through the crafting process.
Changing the prefix of an Epic rarity accessory, which grants stat bonuses and allows it to improve one skill by one level. Accessories with revealed Hidden Abilities can be used without resetting and the Hidden Abilities will be retained through the crafting process. Refining Gift Items, gem Lustres and certain crafting materials to higher quality versions using Octagonal Water.
Creating a base (suffix-less) piece of Nest Boss equipment from its materials.
Once the player has all the listed materials, crafting can be performed for a fee in the menu itself. Many crafting operations have a 100% success rate but some do have a failure chance, so players should not rush through the confirmation window.
Guilds:
To form a Guild, the Guild Leader must visit and pay a 1 Gold fee to Guild Master Deckard in Calderock Village. A newly formed guild may take in up to 20 members. As your guild level increases, more members will be allowed in. There is a pre-determined sets of ranks within a Guild in Dragon Nest Europe, namely: the Leader, Veteran, Senior Guild Member, Member, Recruits. Only the Leader can promote a Guild member’s rank, and is also the only person who can expel another member. All members are allowed to create and edit their own profile in the Guild’s page while the Leader is able to set permissions within the following: – Guild’s announcement page – Membership invitations – Guild’s storage For further guild management, Guild Masters must go to Adventurer’s Guild Master NPCs in various towns to access the following functions: – Guild Expansion – Guild Emblem (Creation/Modification) – Guild Disbandment – Checking of Guild Points Players can leave a guild by selecting the ‘Withdrawing from Guild’ option located in the Guild menu.(The guild menu can be accessed by opening the Community menu and selecting the guild tab.) Guild Masters must appoint a new leader before they themselves can withdraw from the guild. Players must note that their personal records will be cleared upon leaving the guild.
